Our Top 10 Xbox Exclusive Games

The Xbox 360 has been on the market for over 5 years, and with those 5 years we have seen the introduction of the Kinect Peripheral, the maturation of Xbox Live and of course a lot of games exclusive to the Xbox 360.

We have seen both original titles like Gears of War and sequels to loved titles like Halo. We’re going to a rundown of the best Xbox 360 exclusive titles.

10.  Crackdown

Crackdown is an open world superhero game released way back in 2007. The game was packaged with a Halo 3 Beta and as a result sold gangbusters.

The gameplay is set in third person and you’re in a sandbox environment, free to do whatever you want. You are able to upgrade your character through the use of orbs and can run up walls, throw cars and cause pure mayhem!

9.  Ninja Gaiden II

You may remember Ninja Gaiden from way back when on the NES and other consoles as a notoriously hard sidescrolling platformer, on the original Xbox the franchise was given a new lease of life as a hack ‘n slash title. In 2008 Tecmo released it’s sequel.

Ninja Gaiden II. As I said before, Ninja Gaiden II is a Hack ‘n Slash title and takes it’s retro roots to the next generation with notoriously hard difficulty, a fantastic supernatural atmosphere and rewarding gameplay.

8. Alan Wake

Alan Wake is a writer, his life takes a dark turn after his wife gets kidnapped in the idyllic rural town of Bright Falls in Washington.  This game is a third person psychological thriller with a story that twists and turns at every opportunity.

The atmospheric nature of the game makes it almost a horror game. This game can be had as cheap as chips and is a must buy!

7. Fable III

Fable III is the new iteration of the Fable franchise by Lionhead studios (the guys that made Black + White)  an RPG where you play as the king, make instrumental decisions about your kingdom during an industrial revolution.

You play in a classical medieval kingdom with a non obtrusive “cartoonish” artstyle and is a charming game well worth your time.

6. Trials HD

Trials HD is an XBLA (Xbox Live Arcade) game that stands out from the crowd, it’s better then almost any other XBLA game and it has next to no story, simple graphics and simple controls.

Trials is a game where you are simply a man on a motorcycle using your bike to cross nigh near impossible tracks. The online leaderboard is a fantastic addition and is overall a very addictive, frustrating game and is excellent in small chunks.

5. Forza Motorsport 3

Forza is the Xbox 360’s answer to Gran Turismo, and in many ways exeeds it. Forza offers a robust online service, a myriad of tracks, near photorealistic graphics and a fantastic timesink.

With a metric ton of online modes Forza 3 is bound to keep you busy.

4. Lost Odyssey

Lost Odyssey is a game developed by Mistwalker studios, who have onboard Hironobu Sakaguchi. Father of the Final Fantasy series. Lost Odyssey is a narrative driven classical turn based RPG that is 4 discs long and will guide you through it’s heartwrenching, emotive story.

With a gregarious amount of sidequests and loot, Lost Oddeysey is a classical and mature RPG that does not hold back the punches when dealing with questions of what makes us human without any of the namby pamby nonsense we have in most RPG’s today.

3. Mass Effect

Bioware, master RPG makers with titles under their belt like Star Wars: The old republic and Neverwinter Nights made their next gen debut with their sci-fi epic Mass Effect.

Mass Effect has a system wherein you make world altering decisions through the eyes of Commander Shepard, you control every single word that Shepard says and many times these words can and will alter the entire course of the game.

The strong cast, amazing visuals and the fact that you can control commander Shepard entirely makes you invest and engage within this game’s world moreso than any other games I have played this generation. There is one sequel out right now for Xbox 360 and PS3 with another currently due to be released in November.

2. Gears Of War 2

Blood, guts, gore and chainsaws. Gears of War 2 is not one for the kiddies. This third person shooter has all the makings of a fantastic game. The lengthy campaign gives players witness to some of the greatest spectacles available on the Xbox 360, in addition to this is the wealth of multiplayer modes at your disposal.

Hours and hours have already been poured into Gears Of war 2 by millions of players worldwide. And with a sequel in the pipeline the legacy of Gears OF war 2 has already been sealed as a legendary, generation defining game.

For people looking for the quintessential third person shooter, look no further than Gears of War 2. It set the standard for almost every other third person shooter in the market right now and still stands on it’s own legs almost 3 years later.

1. Halo Reach

Halo is a series that needs no introduction, since it’s debut in 2001, Halo has been the poster boy for the Xbox, and for a good reason too. This first person shooter single handedly revolutionised online play on consoles.

This is a prequel to 2001’s Halo Combat evolved and you take the role of the tragic hero Noble Six, part of an elite squad defending against the covenant invasion on the planet Reach. Halo:Reach also (naturally) has amazing online functionality as an arena shooter with all of your run of the mill gameplay modes and types.

Hours of fun are to be had with Halo Reach’s myriad of modes including multiplayer and the lengthy campaign.  It looks like players will be waiting around for the next Halo game as it’s currently got a release date of winter 2012, so Halo: Reach looks to be the go to Halo game for at least a few more years. It’s a well deserved top spot of Xbox 360 Exclusives.
